Our Objectives

‘The Friends of the Fonthill Kame-Delta’ is a volunteer organization comprised of local residents and environmentally concerned citizens who have agreed on the following:-

Our Vision

  • A healthy Kame-Delta ecosystem will provide our community with clean air, rivers, lakes and beaches, safe drinking water and a sustainable food supply, plus exciting opportunities for education, recreation and tourism.

  • The Fonthill Kame-Delta ecosystem, including the cold source water for the 12 Mile Creek, will sustainably support healthy forests, farms, meadows, fields and streams and habitat for diverse soft fruits, plus natural flora and fauna. 

  • The protection and restoration of this natural ecosystem will also safeguard human health by sustaining the ecological processes that naturally protect the quality of our air, water, and land.

Our Mission

To protect and enhance the Fonthill Kame-Delta bio-region plus ensure the sustainable cold water supply to the 12 Mile Creek and other ground water sources. The environmental health will be nurtured through active citizen education and involvement.

To coordinate protection and conservation efforts among governments, schools, farmers, businesses and communities that will result in widespread awareness and understanding of the ecological realities. A strong sense of environmental stewardship will grow through a sensitive and collaborative approach to preservation and conservation of the Kame-Delta and its environs. 

Our Objectives are:


  • to protect, enhance and restore ecosystem health to the Fonthill Kame-Delta, the 12 Mile Creek cold water source, and the surrounding micro-climate of the Kame-Delta

  • to protect the watershed, air shed and biodiversity through scientific research, bio-monitoring, planning, communication and ensure the accountability of the aggregate extraction business to the public;

  • to encourage productive linkages between many partners, including communities, farmers, schools, businesses, governments, and environmental groups to ensure their quality of life

  • to foster individual and community environmental awareness, education, involvement and ethics through pro-active programs associated with the Kame-Delta and the water source

  • to address and challenge the planned expansion of the aggregate extraction operation within the Kame-Delta, and,

  • to raise funds and in-kind resources for investment in the health and productivity of the Fonthill Kame-Delta and its surrounding environment.
